I found these articles with the following introductory note on Savior-of-all.com, but
the writings came from the articles section of the Losingmyreligion.com site.
The writers themselves were at one time part of Christianity but have
since become skeptics. Here they present an interesting challenge to those
who believe and teach the traditional eternal punishment views. (web
ed.)
DEFENSE OF THE INDEFENSIBLE
The Apostle Peter exhorted us to be able to "give an answer to every man that asks us a reason for the hope that is in us," (1 Pet. 3:15) and the Apostle Paul said that he was "set for the defense of the gospel." (Phil 1:17)
These excerpts, from men who have
left the faith, should get every sincere truth-seeking Christian thinking
about what he or she believes. The question I have for you: Can
you defend your belief in eternal torment? Do you have an answer for
these men? Jonathon Edwards said that "hell is perfect hatred without
love." Do you believe this? Do you believe God can love
people and still torment them forever at the same time? Think about
what you would say to these men if they presented their arguments to you.
I pray that these articles get you thinking about the doctrine of eternal
damnation that has all but permeated the Church today.
