"No escaping Phariseeism"

Charlie:
   Hi gang,
More old hash here, but some of the new viewers may find something I say relevant to their experience. It has occurred to me that there is no escaping Phariseeism (self-centeredness/self-righteousness)--in some form--if we (seriously!) embrace and promote the doctrine of never-ending punishment. How is this?

Well, there are only two reasons why God would not save everyone: (1) He WILL not. Which is the teaching of Calvinism. (2) He CANNOT. Which is the teaching of Arminianism.

The Scriptures admonish us to "be joyful always", and to give thanks "for" and "in" ALL things, do they not?

So if Calvinism is true then I am required to believe and testify--joyfully--that God loves me more than He does most of the human race. (For, let us remember that the teaching is that only a few EVER WILL be chosen.)

Nope. I just can't do that. So, I guess I'm just not "truly in the elect",
am I?

If Arminianism is true, then I am required to believe and testify joyfully that I have exercised faith--as is VALIDATED by good deeds--better than most of the human race, and will CONTINUE to do so. (Remember, the teaching is that only a few EVER WILL find the narrow way.)

Nope. I can't do that one either. Sigh... I have too big of a gift of screwing up. And seriously believing that God trashes and burns failures renders REALLY loving him impossible. Furthermore I cannot love or admire a god that is ENDLESSLY punishing my loved ones and friends. Too, the Arminian "glad tidings for the successful" also kills my hope and makes my screwing up even worse. So I guess I'll just have to fry forever while those few successful "winners" who manage to make it through the pearly gates play their harps and attend never-ceasing "worship services" in "heaven."

Yikes! Sounds like a description of the proverbial "hell", doesn't it? Rendering unceasing worship and adoration to the god who is only as reliable as we are, I mean...

Although, I will admit that, to me anyhow, Calvin's hideous god would be even more agonizing to worship.

Yep. Only a pharisee can--JOYFULLY--adopt partialism. And yet those who do adopt it are DISOBEYING God's word if they fail to do so joyfully, aren't they?

Hehe... Uh oh... It appears that if ET is true, then even some of its staunchest advocates may be destined for hell, for people who are "truly born again" seek to obey God's word--and joyfully too--right?

David sang of God's judgments and hoped in them too, just as we universalists do.
Hmmm...Wonder why we don't see very many Calvinists and Arminians doing the same?

Just some thoughts to ponder...

Love to all--
Charlie

"Dance with me, Texas Two-Step Charlie"

Great to see you engagin' those varmits....Calvin Mirror, Mirror on the Wall am I not the fairest elitist on the block.....God's gonna save my old toothless....and not a hair on my chinnie chin chin is gonna be singed....even when it's laced with self-righteous vermin. Actually, I would have more respect for someone who honestly told god to shove his slack ass partiality up the old butt if he or she had to be lobotomized of all feeling and sorrow for the countless millions who are destined to be either gulaged in the ghoulish grimaces of exquisitely delicious sadism.....in fact, I would join in the mock derision of such an impotent idol....only an adulterated carbuncle could ever honestly believe in god such as is blindly envisioned....time to have the boils lanced and the vile separated from the precious. But, alas, until the Holy Spirit reveals the ALL-encompassing wideness and depth and length of Abba's Merciful Love, I guess we will be allowed to stumble in our baseness and be terribly misled by our much vaunted 'knowledge' that disavows and denies all ignorances....now, that's a Pharisee, my Texan torreador .....keep on feeding the red bulls of Edom yer salvation salsas....
yer my favorite slagle bagel!!!!!
yer Canuckle-headed loon,
Ron
