Yep. Again I'm referring to cultivating campartmentalized thinking--mental backfiling. One must learn to "focus on
Jesus" while selecting ONLY "the truth as it IS in Jesus"
that one finds pleasant in order to rest in God's love.
That is, if one has embraced the glad tidings of either
Calvinism or Arminiansm.
That is the only way to rest secure in the sense that God
can be counted on even when you can't--mental backfiling.
If you "believe" tradition's good news that Unfailing Holy Love
plans to burn most (or even some!) of His human
offspring alive forever, you have no choice but to
mentally backfile that protion of your "faith." That
is...IF...you take your own sinfulness--seriously.As an Arminian you must love the Lord with the TOTAL
COMMITMENT of all of your being--while mentally backfiling
the good news--that His commitment to you is CONDITIONAL
on your performance in THIS lifetime. And as a Calvinist you must
love your neighbor as you love yourself--while mentally backfiling
the good news--that Unfailing Holy Love plans to burn most of his
little neighbors alive forever and ever. Including very likely a good number of your friends and loved ones.As an Arminian believer in a never-ending hell you also have the privledge of praising and worshipping the Lord--while mentally backfiling the good news--that he may have already "foreseen"
you as being eternal trash that will burn forever. That is because
of a foul-up on your part which you now cannot foresee. And of
course, since all times are "present" for Him, that may well be the
way He sees you NOW.As a Calvinist you have the priviledge of worshipping and praising
the Lord--while mentally backfiling the good news--that YOU may
not have been TRULY saved. For many, not few, will say to the
Lord in that day, "Lord, did we not do many wonderful works in
your name?" And He will say, according to Calvinism, "Depart from
Me--FOREVER--I never knew you."Yep. That's what I mean by backfiling. And of course this is how
many advocates of Calvinism and Arminianism would urge that
YOU trust, love and worship the Lord, isn't it?
But you don't have to buy into such double-mindedness that results
