In a nutshell, what follows--I know by experience--is the
glad tidings that "grace-oriented" Arminianism is
announcing to the broken hearted of this world who have
never tasted love that is COMMITTED...*Come fly to heaven with Jesus and me! Salvation is a
GIFT. All you have to do is say "yes" to Jesus. (However,
later in catachism the unwitting new convert is told that
HE must keep flapping his wings and "receiving" and
"believing" and "obeying" so he will recieve the "gift" of his "heavenly reward.")*God loves everyone, and desires to save EVERYONE. Isn't
this marvelous? (But later in the new converts class the
hapless new convert is made to understand that God only
DESIRES that the multitudes who live in THIS PRESENT
GENERATION and future generations be saved. Too bad about
the new convert's Buddhist mom and dad who died not ever having heared the message of Christ.)But of course these "grace-oriented" Arminians are NOT
talking about "legalism" or "works", are they? No, they're talking about "OBEDIENCE"--albeit with much gentleness and good humor. :-) But make no mistake. the bottom line message is--You can count on God if He can count on you, for Unfailing Holy Love is only as reliable as YOU are--in the final analysis. Even so, will you now join us in
deepest adoration, worship and praise of the Lord who is only as reliable as YOU are? He only requires that you love him with TOTAL commitment while remembering that his commitment to you is conditional on your performance (uh, faith) in THIS lifetime.Boy! If ##### ever decides to leave this board, I'm praying
that God will send another just like him. He let's the WHOLE THING hang out there for everyone to see, have you noticed? Hence, it is made CLEAR that free-willism is a message of hope--ONLY--for the selfconfident, "adventuresome" and hopeful... And he demonstrates repeatedly that there IS no space for a coherent message of "grace if god plans to trash most the human race. May the Lord bless this brother for his transparancy! He is going to make a--powerful--preacher of the FULL gospel of reconciliation one day.Yep. I can feel it in my bones.
