Hi #####,
As you know, I can see NO SECURITY in God's love if he does not plan to reconcile ALL people to Himself. So if literally "all" will not be led to repentance in the end, then salvation is up to US--bottom line--isn't it? And if that is so, then there is no such thing as "legalism." Nope. There is no legalism. All is--OBEDIENCE. For faith without works is dead. EVERY choice--daily--counts, whether great or small. For if billions will be eternally lost because the way is narrow and few *ever will* find it, then one CANNOT be too careful, can one!
So the relevant questions are--How much faith and obedience daily are ENOUGH? On what basis can Christians love God--wholeheartedly--and rest secure in His love *while also bearing in mind* that he might get rid of them in the end? Is practicing external obedience while committing internal disobedience acceptable? What about internal doubt and external faith? Or internal hatred and external love? How MUCH sin can we get away with? (For the focus now is on saving our hide, and not on loving God based on the confidence that He will always prove reliable even if we do not.) ETERNAL DESTINIES are at stake here. So is it okay to merely TRY to love God, since it is now impossible to ACTUALLY love Him, seeing that He demands our total commitment while offering us only conditional commitment? The Bible says that even those who "covet" to disobey Him will not inherit the kingdom (heaven, according to partialists theology.) So how much can we COVET or RAGE inwardly against God's will daily while--externally--"obeying" and "trusting" Him and still recieve the gift (!?) of our "heavenly *REWARD*."?
These are just for starters... :-)
