When you KNOW that He loves you with unconditional and active commitment--at all times and in all worlds forever--you WILL be in love with Him. As long as you imagine, however, that His commitment to you depends on your showing sufficient passion for Him IN THIS LIFETIME, you will not be able to love Him authentically or passionately. For how can you give to your Lord and Creator a quality of commitment that He (supposedly) does not possess Himself? Can you love with unconditional commitment while your Creator is unable or unwilling to do so?
You can't, dear friends. He's the "Sun" and we're the "moon", so unless HE shines, we--cannot--shine. Right? But you ARE destined to shine with the radiance of His holy love and to be conformed to His likeness. THAT is your destiny. When it comes home to your exhausted and religion-abused heart that Jesus Christ is--*unconditionally committed* --to your eternal joy and well being, you will love Him with a passion that is indescribable. And the fire of that passion will comsume all the shackles that have bound you while it blazes forth from you setting many other captives free.
How could it be otherwise? We love--and we love Him and all for whom Christ died--BECAUSE He first loved and LOVES us.
