Taking the Lord's Easy Yoke--
a good New Year's resolution

Posted by Charlie on December 31
Any understanding of God that requires that we love Him more (with stronger commitment) than He loves us is not an easy yoke or a light burden.

Sadly, many sincere but misinformed people promote these "glad tidings"--

"You shall love the Lord your God with the unconditional and total commitment of all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength--while remembering--that His commitment to you is conditional on YOUR performance in THIS lifetime."

That message, as is evident, is rotten at its very core because it is missing a vital and Scriptural ingrediant: The restoration of all things which has been spoken by all God's holy prophets since the world began. Yes, Jesus did say that many who are last shall be first and many who are first shall be last. But praise God, "last" does NOT mean "never." Jesus Christ IS the First and the Last. Moreover, He is the same Strong Deliverer yesterday, today, and for all ages in which a Strong Deliverer is needed. And He will NOT fail or become discouraged until he has established salvation in that tiny bit of earth called "you." :-)

Is being in charge--bottom line--of your ETERNAL DESTINY a light burden? No, when seriously considered it is a burden that is grievous to be born beyond the power of words to describe. One does NOT have to assume THAT burden in order to learn to live responsibily in this lifetime. Charlie here is living a lot more responsibly now than he was when he was trying to carry the crushing burden of his "eternal destiny." God is Love, and Love is ACTION--not just words and sugary sentimentality--and Love NEVER fails. Are you exhausted from bearing a crushing yoke and unbearable burden? If so, go to http://sigler.org/slagle
and take a look around. Your Heavenly Father loves you--far more--than you think!
